COVID-19 vaccination status will no longer needed for people entering the US, according to the country’s Department of Homeland Security and the White House.
The change comes into effect on May 11 and will apply to travellers arriving in the country by land, sea, and air.
Meanwhile, the World Health Organisation (WHO) announced on May 5 that COVID-19 is no longer a ‘global health emergency’, with ‘a significant global decline in the weekly number of COVID-19 related deaths, hospitalisations, and admissions to intensive care units,’.
The WHO Director General issued seven recommendations related to ongoing management of COVID-19, included the continued rolling back of international travel related health measures, including removing proof of vaccination as a prerequisite for international travel.
