FIDI has announced that it will join forces with the International Association of Movers (IAM) to attend the international workshop on pest risk mitigation of sea containers and their cargoes in Brisbane, Australia.
The discussions will take place on July 17-19, 2023, with the goal of developing voluntary and regulatory measures on an international basis.
As reported in FIDI Focus last year, governments and shipping authorities across the world consider invasive species in international shipments a serious issue. As national and international regulators examine options for legislating against the threat, FIDI, in partnership with the IAM, is continuing to work closely with the Global Shippers Forum (GSF) as members of the GSF Container Cleanliness Working Group to protect shippers’ best interests.
