OB I T UA R I E S Martyn Cohen M artyn Cohen, of Schumacher Cargo Logistics, has died at the age of 59. Born in Harrogate in the UK, Martyn moved to the US in 2000, where he established Schumacher with CEO Martin Baker and built partner agent relationships around the world. A company announcement said: Schumacher Cargo Logistics is saddened to announce the passing of our colleague and friend, Martyn Cohen. From the early days at Schumacher Cargo, Martyn easily connected with industry colleagues from around the world and down the road. Martyns quirky English humour, caring personality, and genuine understanding of people was second to none. David Ozard, of John Mason in the UK, said: Martyn was a fighter. We know he did all he could to battle a horrible disease. He had a great understanding of the moving industry and was always just a phone call away when we needed advice or assistance on a move; a true partner. We always looked forward to his visits to our Liverpool office, which were quite regular because he visited his dear mum in Yorkshire. He always found the time to drop by for a brew and a catch-up with the staff. Even though he lived in the States, he always kept up with the rugby and enjoyed the World Cup battles. This made for great conversations throughout the years. Martyn collaborated with past and present employees and Ken Madrid Ken Madrid, Crown Worldwide Groups former Chief Executive Officer, has died at his home in Scottsdale, Arizona. He spent 32 years as a senior executive at Crown, including four as CEO. He recently announced his decision to retire from the role, after battling illness throughout this year. Kens career lasted 47 years, including many years as a senior board member, holding positions including global CFO and CEO for Asia-Pacific. He was appointed Group CEO in January 2019 and steered the business through the pandemic and ensuing economic challenges. Jim Thompson, Chairman and Founder, Crown Worldwide Group, said: Ken has had a lasting impact on our industry and on so many colleagues at Crown. I worked alongside him in our Hong Kong office for three decades, during which time he was not only an outstanding colleague and leader, but also a close friend. I will miss him dearly. It is testament to his dedication and loyalty that he had hoped to recover from illness and resume his role at the company, only announcing his intention to retire when it became clear a return to work would be impossible. It is most upsetting that he passed away so soon after making that decision. At this difficult time, our thoughts are with his family. customers alike, sharing his knowledge of the transportation industry. He loved every aspect of the moving industry and associations. In turn, the moving industry loved him back. Martyn was one of the good guys and he will be sadly missed by us all. David Williams, of World Moving & Storage in New Zealand, said: It is rare to find someone who has it all, but Martyn did. He was loyal and honest, with a wicked sense of humour. I loved working with Martyn and enjoyed our catch-ups at conferences. There was just something special about him and I was proud to call him my friend. Martyn is survived by his wife Kate, his sister Ros and his mother Rhona in Leeds, UK.
