Moving operations in Australia’s New South Wales and Queensland regions have returned to normal, after severe weather caused significant disruption to moving and other logistics services for several days in March.
Cyclone Alfred was downgraded to a tropical storm before making landfall near Brisbane on Saturday 8 March, but still caused flooding and infrastructure damage across the two regions.
Ray Beard, of Australian Affiliate Nuss Relocations, said: ‘The main port of Brisbane was closed over the weekend, but has reopened. The port is again accepting containers, but the priority is clearing the backlog of containers onto vessels. Customs and biosecurity departments have also reopened and clearances are again taking place.’
Uplifts and deliveries had been postponed in some badly affected areas, with delays to exports and particularly moving services that touch Queensland and/or northern New South Wales.
