Almost a third of shipping containers will be fitted with telematics hardware within five years.
Maritime research consultancy Drewry says that by 2027, more than 10 million containers will use a smart device that allows real-time tracking and monitoring, and boosts operational efficiency, equipment availability, and control of supply chains.
Drewry’s estimate is a revision of its 2022 forecast in which it said 25 per cent of containers would be smart by 2026.
